I did this for 8 years before moving onto other sports.

On my first “on pitch” shoot, Lions v Griquas in 1996, I was asked by one of the ‘SENIOR’ photographers “what the fuck are you doing here”….

Yes!

This person amongst others treated me like dirt for YEARS! I was set aside as though I was nothing and meant nothing.

But I knew….

I was not there for this small circle of irrelevance, but more importantly for my photo.

And it is my photo that takes me back every single time.

I did however LEARN from these irrelevant people…. and it is that the lesson is self evident.

I must NEVER be the same as they were… I cannot and will not allow for myself to put myself or others in a classification of importance.
